Selecting Domains
To specify domains you would like to include in Net Views you will be opening, use the Domains dialog box which can be accessed from the File menu.
You must be an administrator for a workstation's domain to receive ActivTrak data from that workstation. When adding a domain to the Domains dialog box, the ActivTrak viewer checks if you are a member of the Domain Admins or the ActivTrak Observers group. If not, you will be prompted for another ID and password that does have the proper rights.
[Note: Individual workstation names may be entered as domains. In this case, the ActivTrak Viewer checks for membership in the workstation's local Administrator group or it's local ActivTrak Observers group.]
ActivTrak Observers Group
The ActivTrak Observers group is a mechanism to grant access to ActivTrak data to non-Domain Admins. Simply creating a domain group named ActivTrak Observers and adding users to it allows them to open Net Views for the domain and to view ActivTrak data.
Workgroup Computers
The ActivTrak Viewer also allows you to view data from computers not belonging to a Domain, but belonging to a Workgroup instead. Use the checkbox to include non-domain (Workgroup) computers in new Net Views. During the trial period, no access restrictions are applied to workgrouped computers. After you have activated your ActivTrak license, workgrouped computers will report data only to licensed installations of the ActivTrak Viewer.
Novell eDirectory
If the Novell client is installed on your workstation you will have the option of selecting eDirectory contexts, as well as domains to be included in new Net Views. The dialog above will be replaced by this dialog.
By selecting a context, you are including that context and all the contexts it contains. You must have supervisor object rights over the context or be a member of the ActivTrak Observers group in the context to include it in your Net Views. You may view data from multiple trees. For more information see eDirectory Identification under Agent Installation.
