ActivTrak User Guide

Filters

The ActivTrak Viewer includes a highly versatile filter, that makes it easy to work with ActivTrak data.

Although they are especially useful when dealing with large Workstation Log windows, filters can also be applied to the Net View and Session Track windows. Only rows satisfying the filter conditions are displayed in the grid, and they assume the foreground and background colors assigned by the filter. Multiple filters can be applied to the same grid, and a filter can have multiple elements that can be combined with logical AND/OR.

Filters are assigned through the Filters Dialog accessible from the main menu or the buttonbar.

Tip: When filters are active, the filter icon displays on the status bar and the number of visible records, as well as the total number of records is displayed.

Filters and Files

How filters behave when child windows are saved depends on the file type.

.anv and .ast

When Net View (.anv) and Session Track (.ast) files are saved, the active filters are also saved and automatically applied when these files are reopened.

.anh and .ash

For Net View history files and Session Track History files, all records are saved, even those not visible because of filtering.  Neither are the filters save.  However, the filters remain in the system store of filters and can be reapplied in the future.

.log

When Workstation Log (.log) windows are saved, only the visible record are saved in the file.  Invisible records are not, and the filters are not.
