eDirectory Identification
If the Novell Client is installed on the workstation, the ActivTrak agent will attempt to associate the workstation with a Workstation Object in an eDirectory tree. This allows the agent to communicate with the ActivTrak Viewer when it opens new Net Views based on eDirectory contexts. To associate with an eDirectory Workstation Object, the agent looks at the following local registry values:
-
-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\Workstation Manager\Identification
Tree = COLLEGE
WorkstationObject = CN=T33-001.OU=T33.OU=Workstations.O=STUDENTS
-
If the Zenworks workstation manager is installed, these values may already be assigned. If not, you will need to add at least the Tree value to the registry for the ActivTrak Viewer to see the workstation as being in eDirectory.
Workstations are associated with either a Domain or an eDirectory context, not both. If you want the ActivTrak agent to ignore the Workstation Manager identification and associate the workstation with a Domain set the following DWORD registry value:
-
-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Birch Grove\ActivTrak\UseMSDomain = 1
-
For more information about how eDirectory workstations appear to the ActivTrak Viewer see Novell eDirectory under Selecting Domains .
